As we were heading out of the harbour we got a report that the T049A’s were also heading out of the harbour! They continued east along the break wall, giving us a quick and exciting start to our wildlife search. Then we continued southwest and found many Humpback whales taking advantage of the abundance of nutrients in the tidal zone by Race Rocks. Soon they will be migrating to their breeding grounds where they rely on their fat stores to sustain them for many months. Highlights of our trip were Pinnacle the Humpback whale playing with kelp, and encountering male Humpback whale Frankenstein traveling with female humpback whale Towers’ and her 2024 calf.
